April Ross

April Ross has won more than one Olympic medal. She is among only a handful of women beach volleyball athletes to be able to do so. Alix Klineman has become a brand new Olympian and is set to join her in Tokyo. Ross hopes to win more than her initial Olympic medal. In fact, at 39 this may be her last opportunity to accomplish this. She is still confident nevertheless. If we do our highest or do well, I believe we'll be able to win that gold medal Ross declared on NBC Boston. Also, I'll take some luck. Ross was born in California in the city of Costa Mesa in 1982. Her family lived in the area with her mother, father and sibling. In addition to competing in various sports, Ross was also a student at Newport Harbor High School. Her prep athletic career included indoor volleyball as well as basketball as well as track and running. In the last sport, she clearly stood out. According to her biography, she was an outside blocker as well as a middle hitter on the volleyball court throughout her time in high school. Her achievements were rewarded in 1999 when she was named Gatorade's National Circle of Champions Players of the Year. Her volleyball skills also won her the Orange County Athlete of the Years trophy in 2000. Ross and Klineman are performing their roles in the year 2017. However, Ross played a significant role in the beach volleyball scene before joining the duo. In fact, she won multiple major tournaments using two partners, one of whom is an icon of volleyball. Ross teamed up with Jennifer Kessy from 2007-2013, and she also served as Klineman's coach. Kessy was Ross's teammate at the World Championships of 2009. The 2012 Olympic Games, they were awarded the gold medal. Misty Maytreanor (Jennings) as well as Misty Maytreanor won gold, beating them to it. The fate of the matter was that Ross became Walsh Jennings' new partner after May-Treanor's retirement. They both went on to take home the bronze medal in beach volleyball at the Rio Olympics 2016 with Walsh Jennings. Ross was a college player for USC Trojans before her pro career. She was a player in high school and in before hitting the beach as a professional. Her experience at USC was impressive. In her first year at the school, 2000 earned her the Pac-10 as well as NCAA Freshman's of the Year awards and be an All-American. In 2000, her Trojans also reached the Final Four. She endured a great personal loss during her sophomore year, however, she was capable of achieving the All-American award. Over the course of her final two seasons with the Trojans, she helped them to win two consecutive titles. In 2003-2004, she was named as the most successful female volleyball player at a collegiate level in the US through The Honda Sports Award. Ross had been an international studies major at USC. Margie Ross never saw her daughter achieve the heights of the beach volleyball ladder. As of 2001, when Ross was a sophomore at USC her mother passed away due to breast cancer. This meant that Ross continues to be near to her mother who passed away. Margie has been an inspiration in her life and on the beaches.
